On the 4th of September 2023 we proudly opened our third day service in Chesterfield. The site will run alongside our current Mansfield Woodhouse and Top Valley centres, providing extra capacity to run our expanding day service, for adult with support needs and learning disabilities.
The location of the new site, which will run out of the St. Thomas' Church in Brampton, provides quick and easy access to the surrounding Peak District National Park. Allowing the centre to undertake all the activities associated with both Mansfield Woodhouse and Top Valley.
The opening of the site was celebrated with a well-attended open day, with groups from both Top Valley and Mansfield Woodhouse visiting, along with several other community groups.
Throughout the day, there was a hive of activity with a bushcraft session, cooking over a campfire and the consumption of lots of cake, provided by The Adventure Service staff members. The weather also helped, as it remained gloriously sunny.
The site is well situated in Chesterfield and provides ample space for a bushcraft site and woodland area, which will be developed to suit our Adventurer's needs, as time goes on.
In one of the groups from Mansfield Woodhouse, Sarah Wilson was in attendance. Sarah was our very first Adventurer, over 12 years ago. Here she is pictured with the 3 Day Service Managers, April Ulyatt, Amanda Clifton and Mala Ramsamooj.
Also in attendance were the local Community Connectors, who were keen to learn about what services are provided at The Adventure Service and how we can help their adults achieve their potential, through adventure.
